On Tuesday, Keir Starmer announced drastic cuts to Britain’s international aid budget to help pay for a major increase in defence spending. The aid budget will be reduced from 0.5% to 0.3% of GDP.
We have heard many recipients of UK aid concerned about its impact on them. What we haven’t heard is what the UK is actually spending taxpayers’ money on.

Jinými slovy: Rčení vyjadřuje stav, kdy se již nedá napravit to, co se událo, kdy je již pozdě litovat toho, co se stalo. Nejstarší písemný doklad používání tohoto lidového rčení je podle Václava Flajšhanse z 15. století. Později se vyskytuje ve sbírce Přísloví česká od Jana Blahoslava. Připomínám, že úsloví znal i J. A. Komenský a vyskytuje se i v Rosově slovníku a Čelakovského knize: Mudrosloví národu slovanského ve příslovích.
The House of Lords has opened an inquiry into the agreement the UK government has signed with Ukraine. Kdo zná autora článku trochu lépe než to veřejně dostupné komentáře a analýzy umožňují ví, že a priori nevěří optimismu, slibům a strachu, které nás objímají v naději, že bude lépe.
