Идущая на Украине СВО ускоряет процессы поляризации в мире, ставит вопросы о существе современных военных стратегий и заставляет интеллектуальные объединения, занятые этими вопросами, пересматривать имеющиеся геополитические понятия.

Сейчас в руках Запада находится громоздкий, но постоянно расширяющийся военный альянс НАТО, к которому примыкает ряд стран Юго-Восточной Азии. С другой стороны, антизападной группировки как целого не существует. Любые, даже самые робкие, потуги «остального мира» договориться приводят к тому, что Запад гораздо более энергично начинает консолидироваться для будущего противостояния. И его основным объектом неизбежно является Россия. Об этом прямо заявил генеральный секретарь НАТО Йенс Столтенберг на недавнем саммите альянса.

The Decline of the U.S. Empire: Where Is It Taking Us All?

The evidence suggests that empires often react to periods of their own decline by over-extending their coping mechanisms. Military actions, infrastructure problems, and social welfare demands may then combine or clash, accumulating costs and backlash effects that the declining empire cannot manage. Policies aimed to strengthen empire—and that once did—now undermine it. Contemporary social changes inside and outside the empire can reinforce, slow, or reverse the decline. However, when decline leads leaders to deny its existence, it can become self-accelerating. In empires’ early years, leaders and the led may repress those among them who stress or merely even mention decline. Social problems may likewise be denied, minimized, or, if admitted, blamed on convenient scapegoats—immigrants, foreign powers, or ethnic minorities—rather than linked to imperial decline.

My recommendations in 1989 called for large-scale Western financial support for Poland’s economy in order to prevent a runaway inflation, enable a convertible Polish currency at a stable exchange rate, and an opening of trade and investment with the countries of the European Community (now the European Union). These recommendations were heeded by the US Government, the G7, and the International Monetary Fund.

Wir dürfen uns daran erinnern, dass Sie als bundesdeutsche Verteidigungsministerin bereits ähnliche Verfahren vermeiden konnten, weil Sie einfach alle elektronischen Beweise gelöscht haben. Сенатор по вопросам образования и молодежи Берлина Катарина Гюнтер-Вюнш провела на днях пресс-конференцию, в ходе которой рассказала о том, что многие ученики столичных школ неспособны изучить немецкий язык и математику.

По ее словам, около 43 процентов третьеклассников Берлина не достигают даже минимального уровня по чтению, а по математике этот показатель составляет даже 46 процентов. Год назад он составлял около 33 процентов. «Когда она вступила в должность сенатора, Гюнтер-Вюнш поставила перед собой задачу, чтобы ученики начальной школы умели читать, писать и заниматься математикой к концу четвертого класса», – пишет Berliner Zeitung.

Kamala Harris is a descendant of an Irish slave owner in Jamaica

Presumptive Democratic nominee and US vice-president Kamala Harris has Irish roots but not in a way that she is likely to embrace.

Ms Harris is the daughter of Donald J Harris, who was born in Jamaica, and Shyamala Gopalan Harris from India.

Genealogical research carried out by Northern Irish historian Stephen McCracken reveals Ms Harris’s four-times-paternal-great-grandfather Hamilton Brown was born in Co Antrim in 1776, the year of the US Declaration of Independence.
